Shahi Tukda

8 slices of bread
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 tin condensed milk
1 cup milk
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Slices of blanched badam and pista for garnishing
Ghee for deep frying

  • Cut bread slices in to half. If desired you can remove the crust.
  • Heat ghee in a medium size kadai and fry the bread slices in to golden brown. You can fry two slices at a time.
  • Heat the water and add sugar to it. After the sugar gets dissolved, let it boil for 2-3 minutes. Add saffron and keep it aside.
  • Dip the fried bread slices in the sugar syrup one by one at a time for few seconds, and arrange them neatly in a tray.
  • Dissolve one tbsp of cornflour in some milk. Heat the remaining milk in a pan and bring it to boil. Add cornflour paste, two tbsp. sugar and condensed milk . Keep stirring continuously,so that it does not stick to the pan. Boil it for 2-3 minutes or till it becomes thick. Remove from fire. Add the cardamom powder.Let it cool for sometime.
  • Spread the paste on top of the bread slices.
  • Garnish with pista and badam slices and keep it in the fridge.
  • Serve chilled.
  • Tastes heavenly!!!!!!
As we got french bread to make this sweet, the slices look different!

Achinthya growing up!!

Achinthya is growing up.

His few firsts are:

Ist Word:
No! It's not Amma or Appa! It's Car!!!!

Achinthya saying 'Khaar!'

He uses it for the cars he plays with and the cars he sees on the road.
First few days he was using it so much, end of the day we were getting exhausted by listening to the word 'Khaaar'. Now it is under control :)

Ist gesture:

Who lives in the Savanaaaaaaaaa.......... (It is how we ask him!)
and...... here goes.........:)

 Giraffe!!!!

Achinthya raising his hands indicating giraffe!!!!
He is such a sweet heart :))

He learnt that from the picture book we read to him and the gesture we make during the reading.
